Counseling consists of meeting with me on a regular basis, as often as once a week, and working on goals that we will set together at the beginning. It is important that you are an active participant in creating these goals, as you are the expert of your journey. I utilize many different types of therapy that I have received advanced training in. Eye Movement Desensitization And Reprocessing employs a body based technique called bilateral simulation, during which the therapist will guide a client through eye movements, taps, or tones in order to move a memory that has been incorrectly stored to a more functional part of the brain. Somatic Experiencing is a body-oriented approach to healing trauma and other stress disorders. It focuses on learning and attuning to the physiology of our nervous system and starting to allow processes to engage in a healthy way to release stored old physiological states of fight, flight, or freeze. Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT)
Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy is an approach that looks at old ways we have learned to be in a relationship with ourselves and the most important people in our life that might be blocking us from feeling safe and secure. It focuses on finding ways to connect to our truest attachment needs and finding a way to express those needs to each other in a safe way and explore ways that we can feel those needs met with each other.
